Many people do not realize that beekeeping is an industry that earns billions of dollars and requires much time and effort in what was once considered a hobby. The beekeeping industry has come a long way from a simple hobby that is where it’s going in the dinner tables around the world. Beekeepers must be paid in anatomy and behavior of bees, and among those who did not grow up in a family of beekeepers, it is often necessary to use the experience of another beekeeper. The winter months usually kill the blossoms that are necessary for a bee to live, to spit and store their own food to survive and eventually produced the honey.

Winter is an issue that causes many problems for police, but the bees have adapted very well. Because bees that usually occur in warm weather, most beekeepers have a backup option to which they are farmers. It is an expensive hobby, and it may seem cheaper because you can make a box to put some slides on them and allow the bees to go there, but the thing is, you should know where to put the boxes for the bees build their hives in Entomology is a necessary part of the industry, you need to know what kind of predators that feed your bees, wasps are not limited to, wasps and hornets microscopic mites.

Science is very important in the formation of a beekeeper and experience, and most people do not have this training, which is essential to have an idea of how to handle bees, their habitats and their native species. There are various steps necessary for the proper upbringing of a beekeeper, and must find someone who is serious and dedicated to a lifestyle that has a tradition that goes back generations in some families.

People who are taught the art of keeping through its family members tend to see their skills as part of daily life and ability to transmit to their children. Honey production is now a very profitable for many farms, joining to produce, meat and dairy products as part of profitable market.

Do you want to know what tools composes a beekeeping supply and whether they are necessary? Many have looked for beekeeping supply and that is a reason why I am writing this article.

Why would beekeeping supply be necessary?

Let’s take the example of a hive at honey harvesting time to see how beekeeping supply can come in handy.

The Smoker

Firstly, in order to calm the bees the use of a smoker can be important. What is a smoker? It is a tool that should be acquired from the beginning as it permits the beekeeper to approach the bees. The smoker is practically a closed kettle with a tall body and to have the oxygen get in, there is an inlet for air. But, how does it work? Actually, for the smoker to work, one will have burning wood inside which will create smoke. The smoke exits the tool from the spout. This smoke has for effect to calm the bees.

The Hive Tool

Secondly, in order to remove propolis as well as stuck woodwork from parts of the Lansgtroth beehive, you might need a hive tool. What does a hive tool consists of? This tool is made of a handle and a wedge/blade part. Bright colors on the hive tool can help the beekeeper distinguish it among other tools. The price of the tool in general varies with the metal used to manufacture it. Knowing that as a beekeeper you might have to work on your bees outside, choosing beekeeping supply that can resist the weather might more adequate. For a tool that has chances to last long, you could select a hive tool with a wedge made of stainless steel.

The Uncapping Fork

What is the uncapping fork? The uncapping tool should help remove the wax caps. This is due to the fact that the honey is enclosed within cells that are capped by the bees. What does the uncapping tool looks like? It is similar to a fork that is wide, and flat with several metal points. This part of the beekeeper supply can also be used to have the bees move the cured honey to the hive body upper section. This being, there are more than one type of uncapping fork. Additionally to the flat fork there is the Swedish uncapping fork that can help remove from the wooden frames burr combs. Furthermore, to the forks already mentioned there also is the bent fork that is employed when checking for the varroa mite infestation.

Other tools that could be added to the general beekeeper equipments are the hive stand to prevent the Lansgtroth beehive from rotting as well as the brush to push bees when doing inspections on the hive.

More can be said, but in fact one can remember that the tool that appears to be the most important is the smoker. Effectively, having a smoker permits to calm the bees. Additionally, the use of the hive tool can help get rid of stuck woodwork and propolis. The uncapping tool, however, permits to take away wax caps produced by the honeybees.

Before you go you and spend money for beginner beekeeping, it is best to know if beekeeping is something you really want to do. Is it, or could it, be a passion? How do you know if you have a passion for beekeeping and whether you will be able to progress from beginner beekeeping to commercial beekeeping?

Firstly, ask yourself; Why beekeeping as against something else? Do you have a long standing interest in bees? Have you worked with bees before? Have you worked in a honey processing factory and wondered how the honey is made? Do you find yourself tuning in to news items about bees? What are your aspirations? Are you just interested in beginner beekeeping? Do you want a second income? A full time living? You need to ask these searching questions of yourself.

Secondly, do you have a place to do your beginner beekeeping? Do you live on a property suitable for bees? Are the bees going to bother your neighbours? Beekeeping in an apartment in the city is not impossible. You can keep bees on some apartment or office building roofs. You will need approval from your manager and perhaps your local Council! However, if you live in the USA you may have legal problems if your bees sting any residents!

The best places for beginner beekeeping are on farms, lifestyle blocks, and on urban properties with large gardens. Miniature or mini hives are suited to an urban location. But if you live the countryside, you are in the best location for beginner beekeeping.

Thirdly, how much is beginner beekeeping going to cost? It is important to consider costs. You will have the costs of buying protective clothing, a helmet and veil, and gloves. You will need to purchase the hive or hives, your swarm, beekeeping tools, a smoker, and smoker fuel. Beginner beekeeping equipment and a an operating hive could cost $300 – $1,000 or more. The best option is to purchase a living hive from a beekeeper and to purchase the beekeeping tools and clothing brand new.

Fourthly, how much honey do you want to produce per year? The number of hives you purchase depends on this. But also, the number of hives depends on your beginner beekeeping location.

Fifthly, can you afford the time to look after your bees? They will require feeding, the hives will require scraping and moving, and you will have to process your honey. If you just want comb honey you will only have to cut it into squares from the frame. If you want liquid honey you will have to extract it with your own honey extractor or take it to an established beekeeper for extraction if you have lots of frames. For beginner beekeeping you will probably not have your own honey extractor so the best choice will be eating the comb honey.

Sixthly, are you planning to sell your honey? In beginner beekeeping you will probably lsell little, if any, honey. You will probably eat it or give it to friends. If your beginner beekeeping is on a bigger scale you might sell it from the side of the road if you are in the countryside. If you are beekeeping in the city you might sell it to your neighbours (if they haven’t been stung!)

If you give adequate thought to these six items you will prepare yourself well for your start in beekeeping. You will avoid the major problems and know that you will sustain an interest in beekeeping long enough to gain its benefits, both emotional and financial.

According to Journal of Medicinal Food, consuming honey regularly can reduce the risk for getting heart disease. In line with the journal, some studies also suggest people to consume honey to reduce the blood pressure that can cause heart disease.

In the other hand, some people think that consuming honey can cause obesity, high blood pressure, and heart disease. They think that honey has sweet taste that is from sucrose, glucose and fructose. It is known that consuming too much sucrose can increase the risk for getting obesity and can be resistant to insulin and high blood pressure. Sucrose also increases triglyceride level, while fructose has the same effect as sucrose.

Indeed, honey contains sucrose, glucose and fructose, but fortunately, the substances in honey is healthy. Bee produces pure honey by sucking the flower nectar that is rich in the substances, but bee processes them first in the bee stomach. After the nectar is processed in the bee body, then bee produces honey from its stomach. As a result, honey can be pervasive into your blood. Based on a study, honey can be pervasive into your blood around 10 minutes. You can prove it if you get tired after doing sport, then you drink pure honey, as a result, your body will be fresh.

Besides containing substances like sucrose, glucose, and fructose, honey contains many potential enzymes, such as amino acid, bee pollen, bee wax, and nutrition from plant and bee body itself.

In short, honey has positive effect for heart disease sufferers. In the short term, honey can reduce cholesterol and C-reactive protein, so it is beneficial for the health of your heart.

The Honeybee has always played an essential role in nature, and this well-known insect has played an important role in man’s world too. In ancient history, man harvested honey from wild honeybee hives and in the process destroyed those hives. This wasn’t a problem when man existed as hunter-gatherers. They would simply move on to other hives.

But many thousands of years ago, man learned to harness the power of honeybees for their delicious nectar – honey. It’s hard to know when apiculture, or the keeping of bees, truly became a structured process, but today many people engage in apiculture as a commercial business. Many others simply learn how to start beekeeping because it’s an enjoyable pursuit. And there are few hobbies as sweet!

For anyone considering venturing into beekeeping, be sure you’ve thoroughly researched the subject. If you don’t have a good understanding of apiculture and you just jump in to the hobby, imagine the difficult practicalities should you decide it isn’t a pursuit that is right for you. For starters, what would you do with the approximately 20,000 bees now on your property?

It’s very easy to build an artificial beehive, purchase a beehive kit, or acquire a working hive. But before you swarm into action, you should thoroughly research the subject by reading resource materials. Take copious notes as you read, making sure to write down any and all questions or aspects that aren’t completely clear to you. Some important aspects of learning how to start beekeeping are knowing the costs of starting an apiary all the way through to the expense in harvesting the honey. What equipment will you need? How much of your time will you need to commit for each stage of the life of the honeybee colony?

While it’s true that once your colony is up and running, they bees will, for the most part, take care of themselves. But there are other concerns you should be familiar with. For example, there are diseases that can affect bee colonies or affect the quality and safety of the honey production.

You won’t learn everything there is to know from reading and researching about bee keeping, but it’s the best place to start. After doing some good research, schedule a visit with a local bee keeper. Bring your questions with you and be prepared to spend some time (as much as he’ll accommodate) at the apiary. You’ll want to see and touch the hives, hear and see the environment, and simply be around the bees in general. You should also be prepared to feel a bee sting or two while on your visit. This is an important experience that will show you how your body and mind reacts to such an event.

There are also local, regional, and national beekeeping associations that offer a lot of good information. Many of these association hold somewhat regular meetings you can attend. In any case there are plenty of other association members who will be willing to assist in any way they can.

So when you’re ready to start beekeeping, learn all you can up front, start small, and then learn the rest as you go. Most importantly, have fun.
